<span style="color: #222222;">With the IMD issuing a warning of extreme rainfall over the next 24 hours for Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra region, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has asked people to stay indoors and venture out only for essential work. Taking stock of the situation, Mr. Thackeray asked the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai to coordinate with the police and railway authorities, health machinery and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to ensure that citizens do not face any hardships. He has further asked Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority officials to ensure that there is no accident at the ongoing work at Metro Rail sites.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, 15 teams of NDRF are being deployed in the state to assist in any necessary relief and rescue operation. Four teams will be deployed in Kolhapur, two in Sangli, five in Mumbai and one each in Satara, Thane, Palghar and Nagpur.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Due to heavy rain and waterlogging, the train services on the harbour line between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Vashi and between CSMT and Thane on main line continue to remain suspended. Efforts are on to rescue passengers stuck in two trains between Masjid and Byculla stations. While 150 passengers from one of the trains have been rescued, another hundred passengers still remain inside. Besides, 50-60 passengers are stuck in another local.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In wake of the heavy downpour, the city's civic body has opened temporary shelters at municipal schools between Mumbai and Kurla. The civic body has said residents from low-lying and vulnerable areas are being duly shifted.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">With wind speed of 60 to 107 kilometer per hour reported in Mumbai today, incidents of tree falling, with a big one falling near the state secretariat, roofs flying off, flooded roads and water logging have seriously affected normal life in the city. IMD has said that extremely heavy rainfall coupled with strong winds will continue to hit the city tonight.</span><br />''  <br />
