Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pradeep Vyas has expressed concern over the unreported Covid cases in the state which are done with the help of self testing kits. He has written to all the authorities in this regard to monitor the sale of the self testing kits. In his letter he said that, it is expected that all Covid Positive Tests either through Rapid Antigen Test Kits or Home Test Kits will be reported to the concerned authorities by the concerned laboratory or Individual through Mobile App. But it seems that there are large numbers of Covid Positive cases which have been tested on these Kits but have not been reported to the concerned Authorities and such persons appears to be in Home Isolation.
''
''He has pointed out towards the danger of these unreported testing which can not distinguish between Omicron and Delta. He said that as per Genomic Sequencing results still at State Level they are getting Delta strain in about 70% cases and Rapid Antigen Tests generally do not distinguish between Delta & Omicron Variants. So, it may so happen that many of these home isolated Covid Positive patients may need hospital care and suddenly there may be stress on our health infrastructure. He has told the authorities to provide wide publicity through various means that, in their own interest people should report Positive Covid Test results from Home Test Kits as well as Rapid Antigen Tests to the concerned Authorities, so that their health can be monitored.
