Mahararashtra CM emphasizes on need to increase ground water level

<span style="color: #222222;">Mahararashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has underlined the need to increase the ground water level and directed the water resources, agriculture and soil and irrigation department to work together in this direction.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He was speaking in a meeting to review Atal Bhujal Yojana at his official residence Varsha in Mumbai.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He also stressed on the importance of participation of the people for this purpose with the help of NGO's.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, while expressing concern over the depleting groundwater level due to unchecked pumping in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has stressed on the need of proper implementation of water recharge schemes.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He directed the officials of the concerned departments to work in this direction on priority basis.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He also directed them to revive the Shivkalin water storage methods for increasing ground water level.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He asserted that awareness and water literacy can be increased among people with the help of NGO's and public participation in these schemes will change the scenario of water scarcity in the areas like Marathwada.</span><br />''
