<span style="color: #222222;">A delegation of Maha Vikas Aghadi ministers led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari this evening to seek Centre's intervention over the Maratha reservation issue. The delegation submitted a memorandum seeking all legal remedies to ensure that the Maratha community does get reservation benefits in jobs and education.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Addressing the media post the meeting, Mr. Thackeray said, the first step has been taken in the long fight to ensure that the Maratha youth does not suffer due to lack of opportunities. Stating that the community understands that the fight is not against the state government but the legal system, the Chief Minister asked the community members to practice restraint and trust the government that it will take all necessary measures in this regard. Mr. Thackeray said he will soon seek an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss this issue and seek support for the Maratha community.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Last week, the Supreme Court had struck down the Maharashtra State Reservation for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) Act of 2018, which provided reservation for Maratha community. The Supreme Court said, the act violated the 50 per cent upper ceiling to award reservations in any state. Following the verdict, Maharashtra Government has also formed a two member committee to review the judgement and suggest a way forward.</span><br />''  <br />
