Indicating that the toll system would continue despite the recent violent agitation at many places, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said the system was put in place to facilitate speedy construction of new roads. Addressing a press conference after a cabinet meet in Mumbai yesterday the CM said toll is a considered policy of the Centre and the state governments to build roads quickly. He also assured that specific complaints regarding toll levy would be examined and action would be taken.Chavan further said that a comprehensive toll policy and need for improvement in the existing provisions are under consideration. Replying, a query on recent agitation on toll, without mentioning any name, the CM said that the alleged provocative speech will be examined and accordingly action would be taken against the guilty.
