Lakhs of devotees thronged various Shivalayas after taking holy dip in Ganga, Yamuna and other sacred rivers.<br/><br/>In Haridwar, devotees performed Puja Archan at various Shiva temples on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, the first Shahi Snan of Mahakumbh. Mela administration estimated that more than 50 lakhs pilgrims took bath today. Amidst tight security, sadhu sant of seven akharas also took part at Har-ki-Pauri this evening.<br/><br/>In Varanasi, pilgrims from across the country gathered at the famous Kashi Vishwanath Mandir.<br/><br/>In Jammu, all the Shiva temples had been beautifully decorated and people were seen standing in long queues waiting for their turn to have darshan of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati.<br/>
