The Maha Shivratri Festival is being celebrated with full religious fervor and gaiety across the country today. AIR correspondent reports that the festival symbolizes the wedding day of Lord Shiva and Parvati. <br/> <br/>In Madhya Pradesh, processions of Shiv Barats are being taken out across the state on Mahashivratri day. <br/> <br/>In Jammu and Kashmir, the festival of Maha Shivratri is being celebrated with religious fervour gaiety and fervour like other parts of the country.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, All the Shiva temples in Jammu have been beautifully decorated. People are seen standing in long queues in front of all the Shiva temples waiting for their turn to have darshan of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. <br/><br/>Maha SAhivratrri has got a special significance for Kashmir Pandit Community who celebrate the festival for two days. Pandits call it HERATH and 2nd day of the Shivratri festival is celebrated by them as SALAAM. Meanwhile, administration has made special security arrangements in the entire Jammu city especially around Temples to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. <br/><br/>In Orissa, Mahashivaratri is being observed today with religious sentiments among the devotees. Hundreds of thousands devotees are seen standing in long queues in major temples of Lord Shiva in the state to have darshan.
