Maha Navami is being celebrated today with gaiety and fervour in different parts of the country.<br/>'<br/>In the eastern and northeastern states, Durga Puja is synonymous with Navratri, wherein goddess Durga battles and emerges victorious over the buffalo demon to help restore Dharma. <br/>'<br/>In the northern and western states, the festival is synonymous with "Rama Lila" and Dussehra that celebrates the victory of god Rama over the demon king Ravana.<br/>'<br/>In West Bengal and Assam people of all castes and creeds throng puja mandaps on the occasion of Maha Navami, the penultimate day of the Duga Puja festival.
