The monsoon session of the Maharashtra State Legislature began today at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai by condoling the death of innocent persons who lost their lives in the triple blasts that hit Mumbai on Wednesday, 13th July 2011. The Assembly observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the serial blasts.The demand of taking up the condolence motion was made by leader of opposition Eknath Khadse and was accepted by the Speaker Dilip Walse Patil.The issue of terrorism in context of the recent Mumbai Serial blasts is likely to be at the center of discussion in the coming days of the Monsoon session of the Maharashtra State Legislature.Other issues such as State security, energy crisis, Development of Mumbai and the rising fuel prices in the state will also be discussed in the three-week long monsoon session of the state legislature, which is expected to conclude by 12th August 2011.The important bills to be tabled in this year’s monsoon session are the Self financed universities Bill, Bill on Black Magic, Special Economic Zone bill, Fee Regulation Bill, Bombay Shops and Establishments Bill, Educational Fees Control Bill and Essential services maintenance Bill.
