The Maharashtra government has announced a Special Investigation Team, SIT headed by leading water expert Madhav Chitale to probe the irrigation scam.

Officials said in Mumbai yesterday that the committee will also comprise three retired bureaucrats.

They said the terms of reference of the SIT and the appointment of members were finalized on Monday.
