Amid the raging outbreak of coronavirus in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today exhorted people to participate in the mass movement to curb the spread of Covid-19. Speaking in the state legislative assembly this evening, Mr. Thackeray said, his government will initiate a public awareness programme as a large number of cases are now being reported from rural areas as well.<br />''  <br />''Announcing that the "Chase the Virus" programme has yielded desired results in Mumbai, Mr. Thackeray said it is time that the programme is extended across the state. Accordingly, the district administration will now be responsible for tracing a minimum of 20-30 contacts of a coronavirus infected patient and put them under strict quarantine. <br />''<br />''This will ensure that the chain is broken and the infection is contained. Stating that the programme will be launched on 15th September, the Chief Minister said the initiative "Maajhe Kutumb, Maajhi Jawabdari" (My family, My responsibility) can only be successful if citizens, political parties and NGOs support it.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Thackeray said a door to door survey to all localities will be carried out to ascertain that people understand the importance of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. He added that health workers have been asked to make general inquiries regarding a family's medical history and inform the members if any special care is needed. Stating that the coming months are going to be challenging, Mr. Thackeray asked citizens to remain until a vaccine is available for mass consumption.</span><br />
