Concerned about situation of rising malaria patients in the city, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today directed builders to ensure clean environment at their construction sites. Chavan told reporters in Mumbai that they have made it mandatory for the builders to make sure that preventive measures for malaria are taken care of in their premises and environment is clean at the construction sites.The Municipal Corporation of the city had blamed builders for increase in the disease and asked them to fumigate construction sites. Health Minister Suresh Shetty had also announced to take strict action against builders who do not keep sites clean.The Chief Minister said the government would extend complete cooperation to the BMC and added that the government is not shirking its responsibility.Chavan has also written to the Union Government requesting to allow malaria treatment in the railway, port and Centre administered hospitals.
