Maha BJP MLAs to meet on Tuesday in Mumbai to elect CM candidate

The newly elected MLAs of the BJP in Maharashtra will meet on 28th October in Mumbai to elect leader of the legislative party to lead the new government.

The decision was taken at a meeting of senior party leaders today at the residence of former leader of the opposition Eknath Khadse. Senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde said that the meeting scheduled for 28th October will be attended by union home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP’s general secretary JP Nadda who are also BJP’s central observers for election of the legislature party leader.

Tawde said the meeting would also be attended by the BJP MPs of the state. The swearing in ceremony is expected to be held on 30th of this month.

Party sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief ministers of BJP ruled states are expected to attend the ceremony. Considering the fact that BJP for the first time is leading a government in Maharashtra, the organizers are planning the event in a grand way for which sprawling Wankhede stadium is likely to be selected as the venue.

However, it is not yet clear whether leaders of Shiv Sena would be accommodated in the first list of council of ministers.

Shiv Sena had clearly indicated that it is open to be part of the government and that official discussion on formation of government would be undertaken Monday onwards.

On the other hand, BJP leaders maintained that Shiv Sena should not keep any unrealistic pre-conditions. BJP leader Vinod Tawde said that his party also wants Shiv Sena to join the government and added that they have already conveyed their views on government formation.

According to sources, BJP has also kept option open to form government with the help of independent MLAs with an outside support of NCP.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has said in the party’s mouth piece Saamna that if his party and BJP had contested with the alliance they would have won 200 seats.

He also pointed out that after the Lok Sabha polls people has once again voted in the name of Narendra Modi because of which many senior leaders of Sena were defeated in spite of doing good work.
