Magnitude 6.3 quake strikes southern China

A strong intensity earthquake measuring 6.9 on Richter Scale hit Tibet's Nyingchi prefecture, located close to border of Arunachal Pradesh, in the early hours of today. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), the quake struck at 6:34 AM Beijing Time, at a depth of about 10 km.<br/> '<br/>It was followed by 5-magnitude earthquake around the same place in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Magnitude 6.3 quake strikes southern China

An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck southern China near the Indian border today. <br/><br/>United States Geological Survey (USGS) said, the quake, initially reported as a magnitude 6.7, struck at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers in the Xizang region of southern China close to the Indian border. <br/><br/>China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) also confirmed that earthquake hit Nyingchi, Tibet at 6:34 a.m Beijing Time today. According to CENC, the epicentre was monitored at 29.75 degrees north latitude and 95.02 degrees east longitude. Further details are awaited.
