The hearing on the litigation, for and against holding the AIADMK party's proposed General Council Meeting on the 11th of this month, is set to be resumed by the single judge bench of the Madras High court this afternoon.<br />'' <br />'' The former chief ministers of the party, Mr Edappadi Palaniswamy and Mr. O.Panneerselvam are at loggerheads over the leadership issue.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Panneerselvam seeks a status quo in the party structure, which is in effect headed by a dual leadership, consisting of a coordinator and a joint coordinator.<br />'' <br />'' In contrast, Mr Palaniswamy is in favour of strong and unitary leadership.<br />'' <br />'' It is being said that the supporters of Mr. Palaniswamy may take up the issue in the July 11 General Body meeting, leading to the resistance against the meeting by the Panneerselvam camp.<br />'' <br />'' The Supreme Court has earlier rejected the demands for canceling the July 11 General Body meeting saying the judiciary cannot interfere in the internal affairs of political parties. However, the apex court allowed the litigants to approach the single-judge bench of the High Court which is hearing a petition on the same issue.<br />'' <br />''When the case came up for hearing before the High Court yesterday, Justice Krishnan Ramasamy asked the Palaniswamy camp to come up with its reply this afternoon to the questions including whether the coordinator and joint-coordinator posts are still existing in the party and who are empowered to convene the party's general council meeting.
