Madras HC stays screening of film ‘Vishwaroopam’ till Monday

The screening of film Vishwaroopam has been stayed till Monday by the Madras High Court.

The Divison Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dharma Rao and Justice Aruna Jagadeesan on Wednesday set aside the Single Judge’s order lifting the ban on Kamalhaasan’s movie Vishwaroopam.

The Court gave a direction to the Tamilnadu Government to file a reply on the issue on Monday. The final hearing is scheduled for February 6th. Speaking to reporters Chandrahaasan brother of Kamalhaasan said that they would take decision after the final hearing.

Earlier speaking to reporters at his residence at Chennai, Actor Kamalhaassan said that after discussion with leaders of certain sections of Muslims he had agreed to remove certain scenes .

AIR correspondent reports, hundreds of fans gathered in front of Kamalhasan’s residence at Chennai and in front of theatres on Wednesday evening as an expression of solidarity with the Movie star.

Viswaroopam which ran into rough weather is yet to hit the silver screen formally.

The actor who had to deal with the issues single handedly seems to be undeterred but described that he had to pledge his house to produce the film. Later members of the film fraternity and a section of the muslim representatives met him for further discussion.

DMK President Mr.Karunanidhi also joined the questioned the attitude of the State Government in handling the issue while members of the film fraternity expressed their support to Mr. Kamalhasan and hoped that the film would be released soon.

The movie Viswaroopam, written and produced by Actor Kamalhasan which was scheduled for release on the 25th of this month is still into problems .
