<span style="color: #222222;">Madras High Court has set aside the election of AIADMK legislator A K Bose from Tiruparankundram Assembly Constituency in the 2016 bye-election. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">His win has been challenged by DMK candidate Dr Saravanan, who lost in the race. Meanwhile, Bose also died later due to illness, leaving the seat vacant. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">However, the verdict in the case has been delivered today by the court. In its judgment, a single judge bench said, affixing thumb impression on Form A and B of nomination papers would not be generally permissible. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The court held that the papers should normally be signed by the party's authorized leader. In the instant case, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa's thumb impression has been affixed, while she was admitted into a corporate hospital in Chennai.   </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">However, the judge dismissed a supplementary petition by the runner up in the election Mr Saravanan seeking to declare him as the winning candidate.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Due to the court case, the Tirupparankunram Assembly seat has been excluded from the Election Commission's recent schedule of bye-elections. The road is now clear to hold fresh bye-election. </span><br />''
