Madras High Court today cleared the Commissioning of Koodankulam nuclear power plant in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu ruling that there were no impedients to it . A Division bench of the court gave the go ahead for the commissioning of the power plant, dismissing a batch of PILs that insisted on compliance of all mandatory pre commissioning norms before the plant starts its operation.

The Bench also ruled that the centre and the Tamil Nadu governments must oversee the plant and directed the Tamil Nadu government to undertake an awareness scheme for the benefit of the people living in the area.
