The Madras High Court has asked the Centre to constitute a committee for providing reservation for OBC candidates in central quota medical seats. In its verdict today, the first bench led by Chief Justice AP Sahi said there is no legal or constitutional bar against providing reservation for the OBCs in the All India Quota seats in institutions being not run by the Centre. It has asked the Tamil Nadu Health Secretary also to be a part of the committee.<br />''<br />''The issue pertains to the admission of students for the 15 per cent undergraduate medical seats in the non-central institutions that are being provided to the All India Quota. A bunch of petitions were filed by most of the Tamil Nadu political parties, both ruling and opposition, saying OBC reservation is being denied in the All India Quota. Hearing the petition, the court has held that the Medical Council of India is not opposing reservation in central medical institutions and therefore there is no ground in opposing it in non-central institutions.<br />''<br />
