In Madhya Pradesh, a group of women have written a new story of self-reliance by their hard work. While solving the water crisis in the village, they have also created an example of collective initiatives. Now these women are known as Jal Saheli means friends of water. We have a report:
”
” More than 100 women from Bhelda village in Badamalhara block of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh have cut a 107-meter-long mountain with the help of an NGO and the Forest Department and made a canal through which rain water is being stored into their village's dry pond. Jal saheli Babita Rajput said that:
”
” Earlier, the rainy water used to go waste. By saving this water in the pond, women have also increased the water level of the village.
”
” This pond, built on 40 acres, is now full. Bati Bai of the village says that due to increasing ground water level, water has also come in dry wells and hand pumps. The hard work of these women shows that nothing is impossible; the need is just to take a pledge.
