Madhya Pradesh to start evening courts from today

In Madhya Pradesh, evening courts are starting in district and civil courts of the state from today. Our Bhopal correspondent reports that these courts will function from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.AIR correspondent reports that the concept of evening courts is being implemented in districts where pendency of cases is in large number.The objective of having evening courts is to expedite disposal of various cases. Cases under section of 138 of the negotiable instrument act, electricity act and some other cases will be taken up in these courts. Presiding officers of these courts would get extra allowances in lie of additional work. Initially these courts are being started in 80 courts of thirty districts. However lawyers are unhappy over these courts. They say that they would be left with no time to sit in their offices in the evening.
