Madhya Pradesh celebrates its 54th Formation Day

In Madhya Pradesh, the 54th Foundation Day of the state is being celebrated with fervor and gaiety today. Special programmes are being organized in all the district headquarters. The state level function will be organized at capital Bhopal’s Lal Parade Ground this evening. Governor Rameshwar Thakur will be chief guest at the function. A glimpse of cultural diversity will be presented in the programme. The State Government has decided that the song of Madhya Pradesh, adopted last year, will be sung after the national anthem and national song in all government functions and educational institutions from Monday in the state. AIR Correspondent reports, on its 54th foundation day Madhya Pradesh seems to be fully prepared to join the list of developed states of the country. Madhya Pradesh achieved GDP growth rate of 8.60 percent in the last financial year. Income of the state from its own resources has been increased three times in the last five years. Madhya Pradesh is also trying hard to be self dependent in power sector by 2013. The state government has also launched several welfare schemes like Laadli Laxmi Yojna and Kanyadaan Yojna for the upliftment of women and weaker sections.
