In Nepal, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, one of the partners of the coalition government has vertically split on Monday. Jaya Prakash Gupta , has led a splinter group to form Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik. The new party has thirteen members out of the twenty-five members of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum .Gupta is the Chairman and the parliamentary party leader while Chandrika Prasad Yadav is the party’s chief whip. The split follows differences over the Chairman and foreign Minister Upendra Yadav decision to join the present Jhala Nath Khanal led coalition government. AIR correspondent reports, the ruling coalition on Monday felt a jolt as one of the ruling parties split. The UCPN-Maoist has 238 seats and the CPN-UML has 108 seats in the 601-member Assembly, which acts as the country's interim Parliament. Meanwhile the Assembly today started discussion on the ruling government’s decision to amend the interim constitution to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly which expires in five days.Earlier on Moday, the opposition Nepali Congress and United Madhesi Democratic front which includes a number of parties decided expressed support to the ten point roadmap given by the party for the extension of the Constituent Assembly. They have decided to oppose the constitution amendment bill if the preconditions that include among others resignation of Jhala Nath Khanal and formation of a consensus government, integration of combatants on individual basis, scrapping of dual security to maoist leaders , return of property seized by the Maoists during the insurgency.
