In Rajasthan, Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna was dismissed from the State cabinet last night. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had sought his dismissal and Governor Shivraj Patil accepted the recommendation.

Maderna is an accused in the Bhanwari Devi case being investigated by the CBI.

Mr Mahipal Maderna was advised to resign when a complaint was registered against him in the Bhanwari Devi case and CBI started inquiry of the case last week.

Maderna met with the C.M. on Saturday and it was assumed that he will resign, but yesterday his silence created an atmosphere of illusion and this episode ended with his dismissal.

In another development Maderna sent his resignation to the C.M. by fax but this exercise was done after the dismissal.

Maderna again claimed that he is not involved in Bhanwari Devi case. Now it is assumed that Maderna will be inquired by CBI.

Bhanwari Devi is still a riddle for investigation agencies who is missing since 1st Sep. Maderna is an accused in this case. Meanwhile the State govt has handed over the charge of water resources department to Industry Minister Rajendra Pareek.
