Madagascar's political leaders have signed a deal in the capital Antananarivo paving the way for elections to be held within a year and to re-establish democracy. The road map also includes allowing the return to the country of the ousted leader Marc Ravalomanama. According to a report, previous attempts by Ravalomanana to return to the country in the past were blocked by the man who deposed him with the help of the military, Andry Rajoelina. A deal has been struck which will allow a comeback for Ravalomanana and to possibly take part in inclusive elections. It appears Rajoelina has finally caved into pressure from the European and African Union which suspended Madagascar. The Southern African Development Community led by South Africa brokered the deal.
