M-STrIPES software to help tiger coservation

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh says, Tiger population is on the rise across the country. Speaking at a function after the release of the software M-STrIPES in the capital today, he said that the software will ensure patrolling and effective surveillance based on ground level information.This is a collaborative, no-cost intiative between the National Tiger Conservation Authority ,Wildlife Institute of India and the Zoological society of London. The sytem will be implemented within two months at six tiger reserves.<br/> <br/>AIR correspondent reports that M-STrIPES is a significant software developed to document and track ecological trends and deliberate crimes perpetuated on wildlife. The sotware would provide timely forecasting of dwindling tiger population due to factores like poisoning, poaching or habitat degradation.
