M K Alagiri rules out floating his own outfit

Suspended DMK leader M K Alagiri has ruled out floating his own outfit. Putting to rest speculations, he told his supporters at a consultative meeting in Madurai on Monday that he is with DMK.

He said there is no need for him to start a new party by name Kalaingar DMK, when the present DMK is itself Kalaingar DMK.

But, he vowed to save his father and party chief M Karunanidhi from the grip of what he called betrayers, a veiled attack on his younger brother M K Stalin. He said this is his first work.

Stating that he had been unfairly vilified and suspended, Alagiri alleged that Karunanidhi is being not allowed to discharge his functions as the party President.

He, however, regretted that the root cause of all problems, including his suspension, was controversial posters put up by his followers.

The meeting was held in the backdrop of Alagiri and his supporters being denied tickets to contest the Lok Sabha polls. There were speculations that he might part ways with the DMK.

Earlier, speakers at the meeting said that the hardwork of cadres was not respected by the party high command.
