Lunar eclipse

More than half the world will have the opportunity to watch on Wednesday night, one of the darkest Lunar eclipses in over 100 years. People living in eastern Africa, West Asia, central Asia and Western Australia will have opportunity to observe the entire eclipse, from beginning to end. In India the lunar eclipse will be taking place from 11.53 PM on the night of June 15 to 3.32 AM early next morning. During the total lunar eclipse, the Sun, the Earth and the moon fall in near perfect alignment and the Moon is completely covered by the Earth's shadow. Other than the near perfect alignment, atmosphere also plays its role in making the moon appear extremely dark. This eclipse is likely to be one of the darkest due to the ashes thrown in the Earth’s atmosphere by the recent eruption of Iceland’s most active volcano, Grimsvotn.
