Luka Kipkemoi Chelimo of Kenya has won the grueling 42.195 kilometres men's race in the 27th edition of Pune International Marathon. In the event, Luka set a new course record of 2 hours, 13 minutes, 03 seconds to win the race. His Kenyan compatriot Simon Kiprugut Kirui was second, and Danel Aschenik Derese of Ethiopia stood third.Luka earned a cheque of three lakh rupees for his effort. Kenya also displayed their supremacy in the women's 21 kilometres race by sweeping the first three places. Kumulu Pauline Kaveke set a new course record of One hour, 8 minutes, and 37 seconds. The Keyan bettered the previous best time of Musyyoka Helen Nzembi (1:10:11) also of Kenya three years back. The Indian challenge in the men's section fizzled out in the face of a tough competition. However, Kavita Raut brought some cheers in the Indian camp by bagging 10th place in the women's event with a time of 1:17:39.
