In Uttar Pradesh, the police have arrested a security guard in connection with the brutal murder of a woman in Mohanlalganj area of the capital city Lucknow.
The incident came to light on July 17 when the body of the woman in a mutilated condition was spotted near a primary school in Mohanlalganj area during the security arrangements made in view of former United State President Bill Clinton's visit.
AIR correspondent reports that taking a strong view of heinous rape and murder of the woman, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday took stock of the investigations and had directed the officials to solve the case at the earliest.
The Chief Minister said that State Government was very serious in solving this tragic and unfortunate incident and exposing the culprits, an official spokesman said.
He said the Chief Minister has announced a financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh besides taking up educational expenditure of the two children of the deceased woman, who was in her early 30s.
The government had asked ADG level officer Sutapa Sanyal to supervise the probe.
The police is working on some leads obtained during investigations and is reported to be questioning some other suspects.
