Lucknow police arrest Sahara India Chief Subrata Roy

Sahara Group Chief Subrata Roy has been taken into custody by the Lucknow Police. Sources said, a police team visited the Sahara premises and took him into custody. It is not clear where he has been kept at present. Police is likely to produce him before a Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and seek his transit custody.

As reported earlier, the Supreme Court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against him after he failed to appear before the Apex Court on Wednesday. The Court has asked to produce him before it on March 4th.

The apex court had on the 20th of this month, come down heavily on the Sahara group for not refunding 20,000 crore rupees of investors money despite its order and summoned Roy and the three directors to be personally present before it on Wednesday.
