Lucknow CMO murder: Three Arrested

The Uttar Pradesh Government has claimed that the Lucknow Chief Medical Officer Dr. BP Singh murder case has been solved with the arrest of three persons. State Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told media persons that Special Task Force of the State Police has arrested three killers from Lucknow on Friday who were allegedly hired by the then Deputy CMO Dr. YS Sachan who is now in prison. Dr. Singh was shot dead in the Gomati Nagar area of Lucknow on the 2nd of April this year. The Cabinet Secretary also claimed that arrested persons have confessed their involvement in the killing of another CMO Vinod Kumar Arya, who was killed in a similar manner on October 27 last year. Two pistols, three motorcycles, one car and 6 mobiles have been recovered from the killers. All major opposition political parties have been demanding a CBI probe into the murders of both CMOs. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also visited the residence of Dr. Singh and supported the demand of a CBI probe. Four Public Interest Litigations are still pending in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court seeking a CBI probe into the murder of Dr. Singh. Petitioners have also sought probe by the national agency into alleged financial irregularities in the implementation of National Rural Health Mission project in the state.
