Quoting police sources AIR correspondent reports that he was found hanging in the toilet at the first floor of jail building. Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. This was disclosed by an official spokesman in Lucknow late last night. Police has claimed that he has committed suicide. He was arrested in the month of April this year after murder of CMO Dr. BP Singh for his alleged involvement in the irregularities in the implementation of National Rural Health Mission. Later on he was named in the murder of both the CMOs after arrest of three persons from Lucknow on 17th of this month by STF of state police. The state government had claimed that arrested persons were hired by the Dr. Sachan to kill both the senior medical officers. Dr BP Singh was killed on April 2 this year while his predecessor Dr. Vinod Kumar Arya was murdered in the month of October last year. Dr. Sachan was interrogated by the police yesterday in the jail as he was admitted in the hospital of jail for general ailment and he had undergone angiography in the past. Police has not given the details of interrogation. Meanwhile BJP and congress have demanded CBI inquiry into the alleged suicide of Dr. Sachan. BJP MLC and state spokesperson HN Dixit has said that terming mysterious death of Sachan as suicide was not convincing. Congress State President Rita Bahuguna Joshi has said mysterious death of Dr. Sachan has made murder of both the CMOs more complicated and only impartial investigation will be able to bring truth. Reiterating her demand for CBI probe into the murder of C MOs she has said death of Dr. Sachan should also be investigated by the national probe agency. Four Public Interest Litigations have already been filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court seeking a CBI probe into the murder of Chief Medical officer Dr. B P Singh. Petitioners have also sought probe by the national agency into alleged financial irregularities in the implementation of National Rural Health Mission project in the state.
