In Uttar Pradesh, 1,964 candidates are left in the fray for first phase of elections for Mayors of Municipal Corporations and Chairpersons of Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayts.Our Allahabad correspondent reports that poling will held in on 24th of this month for four Municipal Corporations of Lucknow, Varanasi, Moradabad and Meerut and 42 Nagar Palika Parishad and 95 Nagar Panchayats spread over 18 districts in first phase. Keeping in mind several competitive examinations, State Election Commission has advanced the polling for Lucknow Municipal Corporation to June 23. A total of 63 candidates are in contest for the posts of four Mayoral posts, while 659 are in fray for the posts of Chairperson of Nagar Palika Parishad and 1,242 for posts of Nagar Panchayats Chairpersons.
