The US says that the LTTE still remains internationally active. The US State Department said although the LTTE had been militarily defeated in Sri Lanka, there was an international network, which continued to extend assistance to them. However, a severe impact has been made by the arrest of Kumaran Padmanadan alias KP, who was the LTTE’s chief financial and arms supplier. The department in its latest report on worldwide terrorism, also pointed out that the LTTE members are still collecting funds from Tamil communities in north America, Europe and Australia. Even charitable organisations are being used in this regard.
