Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has recommended the imposition of President's rule in Delhi in the absence of any party staking claim to form a government. Quoting official sources, news agencies report that the Lieutenant Governor also recommended to keep the new Assembly in suspended animation. In his report to the President, Mr Jung listed various options before the Centre as deadlock over the formation of a new government continued. The report also cited consultations the Lt. Governor had with the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party. Talking to reporters, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said, the Lt. Governor has given a few options and the central government is examining the report.
Meanwhile, the Congress has put the ball in the AAP's court over government formation. AICC General Secretary, Shakeel Ahmed said, 16 of the 18 AAP's demands need administrative decisions and have nothing to do with Parliament or Assembly.
