Lt. Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh today met Home Minister P. Chidambaram in New Delhi. The meeting comes after he was quizzed by the officials of Enforcement Directorate in connection with his reported links with Hasan Ali who is in jail for money laundering and tax evasion. Coming out after the meeting, he told reporters that Enforcement Directorate officials have spoken to him and the matter is before the Supreme Court. Mr. Iqbal Singh as a Member of Parliament in 1997 had recommended issuance of passport to Hassan Ali. He has stated that he had recommended Ali's name for getting a passport despite not knowing him personally.
