Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag has been appointed the Commander of Eastern Army Command. He takes over his new assignment tomorrow. Lt. Gen Suhag's promotion was banned by the previous Army Chief Gen. V.K. Singh.

After Gen. Bikram Singh took over as the Army Chief on 1st of this month, Lt. Gen Suhag's ban on promotion was lifted. Lt. Gen. Suhag is expected to succeed Gen. Bikram Singh in 2014.
