Lok Sabha today voted demands for grants of railways for 2016-17 and supplementary demands of grants for 2015-16 along with Appropriation Bills related to it. Replying to a debate on the Rail Budget, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said, railway has improved its financial health and operating ratio since the NDA came to power in 2014.<br/><br/>He termed the Railway budget as common man-centric saying it has everything to offer from Antoyday Express, Deen Dayalu coaches and hand-held terminals for ticketing. Prabhu said almost all the vacancies reserved for SCs and STs have been filled up. He said the government has started online examination for recruitment in railways to curb malpractices. The Minister said railway is focusing on developing railway stations through PPP model. <br/><br/>Rebutting opposition criticism over bullet train, the Railway Minister said, it is a standalone project and in self-financing mode, but the technology used for bullet trains can be later used in other sectors. He said railway is going through crisis because of problems accumulated in the past and the but there is no point of blame game and the railways should be kept outside one upmanship.
