The Lok Sabha has taken up discussion on the Union Budget 2014-15. Initiating the discussion, Jyotiraditya Scindia of the Congress said the budget is directionless and failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people. He said the budget is not only a financial statement of the government but it is a visionary document. He alleged that there is no road map to check inflation in the budget. He criticized the government for announcing hike in the rail fares outside Parliament. He said the government has given income tax relief to the people but it has become ineffective due to price rise. Stating that no time frame was given for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, Mr Scindia said it is the need of the hour. However, he thanked the NDA government for incorporating most of the schemes and programmes of the UPA regime.
