LS takes up Demands for Grants of Ministries of Civil Aviation and Tourism for discussion

The Lok Sabha today took up the Demands for Grants of Ministries of Civil Aviation and Tourism for 2016-17 for discussion. Initiating the discussion K C Venugopal of Congress raised the issue steep rise in air fare during peak season. He said, despite falling Air Turbine Fuel, ATF price in the international market, there are frequent hikes in air fare by various airlines. He alleged that the benefits of fall in the price was not passed on to air passengers. He sought to know about the action being taken by the government.<br/><br/>Dushyant Singh of BJP appreciated the government for reforming the sector and giving due impetus to the activities in both the sectors. Hailing good work being done by the NDA government, Mr Singh said it is matter of satisfaction that government has recognised tourism as an industry. Saugata Roy of TMC stressed on the need of finalising the draft aviation policy soon. He requested the government to work expeditiously in this direction. The discussion remained inconclusive.
