The Lok Sabha has taken up the discussion on the statement made by the Prime Minister on the cash for votes issue. Initiating the debate, Mr. Gurudas Dasgupta of CPI alleged that Parliament was misguided on the issue. He asserted that electoral victory cannot condone the criminality of any nature. He was speaking in the house when reports last came in. The Lok sabha was yesterday adjourned for 40 minutes on the issue with the Opposition pressing for a debate. They have also submitted privilege notices to the Chair on the statement made by the Prime Minister. The Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar yesterday informed the House that the motion is under her consideration and she will give her ruling on the issue after taking all aspects into consideration.The Rajya Sabha will take up the discussion on the issue in the afternoon. The House witnessed repeated adjournments before it was adjourned for the day, yesterday.
