Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has called for implementation of legislative provisions for welfare of disabilities in the right spirit so that benefits reach target groups.

Interacting with a group of differently-abled children in New Delhi on the occasion of International Day for persons with disabilities, Ms. Kumar said all efforts should be made to ensure the mainstreaming of persons with disabilities to enable them to purposefully contribute to national and social life.

The Speaker also urged them to have a strong will-power to dismantle barriers that impede their march towards progress.
