In Kerala, 38 per cent of the electorate have exercised their franchise till mid-day today, for the 20 parliamentary seats in the state.
Heavy polling has been reported from a large number of polling booths, with voters forming long queues to cast their votes. A large number of young men and women, mostly first-time voters were seen patiently waiting for their turn to cast their vote.
The constituencies of Kasargod, Kannur and Alappuzha recorded over 40 per cent polling. The lowest voter turnout was reported from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal, with 35 per cent each.
269 candidates are in the fray including 27 women. The polling has been incident-free so far.
