Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said that the decision of the Congress Working Committee on Rahul Gandhi was final and he would lead the party's poll campaign for Lok Sabha elections. Addressing the All India Congress Committee, AICC, meeting in New Delhi this morning, she said that the party is prepared to take on the battle ahead. Mrs Gandhi said, the party would fight for the upkeep of its secular tradition. She alleged that the main opposition was dividing society and spreading violence.
The Congress President appealed to all parties to rise above political considerations to help pass anti-graft bills pending in Parliament. Mrs Gandhi added that secularism is not political compulsion but a matter of faith for the Congress.
Our Correspondent reports, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi alongwith senior Cabinet Ministers, including Kamal Nath, AK Antony, Sushil Kumar Shinde, are attending the crucial meet.
The meeting comes a day after the party unanimously appointed Rahul Gandhi as the leader of the Lok Sabha poll campaign.
