Replying to the debate on the motion of Thanks to the President's address in Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said, the way India dealt with the impact of the global economic crisis and failure of the South-West monsoon was praise worthy. He said that macro-economic fundamentals of the economy are strong, and if the country manages the economy well, there is no barrier to India's entry in the age of double digit growth.<br/><br/>Dr Singh said, Government has been worried by the behaviour of food prices in last one year and added that steps have been taken to give relief to the people. He said, India has not allowed large scale unemployment to emerge as a problem in the country.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister added that there is need for more investment in education, health, rural and urban infrastructure. On the naxal problem, he said, government is determined to tackle the menace and is ready to talk to any group that abjures violence unconditionally.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, The BJP today said that the Prime Minister's reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's speech gives no clear direction for the future acts of the government. Briefing Media persons in New Delhi today, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mr. Arun Jaitley expressed disappointment on the speech. He said that it fails to address the most critical issue confronting the nation. Mr Jaitley said that the Prime Minister unveiled no roadmap for dealing with growing inflation.<br/><br/>Stating that the incidents of violence have increased after the announcement of cease fire with the Maoists, Mr Jaitley blamed the government for having no clarity on dealing with the issue. Rejecting Prime Minister's statement of India being under no international pressure, he said that indicators and circumstances establish otherwise.
