The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla has said that Lok Sabha will not take up the impeachment motion against Culcutta High Court Judge, Justice Soumitra Sen. Talking to AIRcorrespondent he said the Law Minister will make an announcement on the floor of the House after the House meets this afternoon. He said that the Law Minister will give the details of the events of Justice Sen's resignation and its acceptance in the House. Earlier, the Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar held discussions with the leaders of the political parties and government on taking up the impeachment motion against the judge. According to Lok Sabha schedule, the impeachment motion was listed in the business for the day. The impeachment motion has already been adopted by the Rajya Sabha with the two thirds of majority. The proceedings of the impeachment motion were set in process when over 50 Rajya Sabha MPs moved such a motion. The Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Mohd. Hamid Ansari had set up a special committee constituted to look into the allegations levellled against Justice Sen. The Committee found that the charges of financial irregularities against him to be correct. Justice Sen has been charged with misappropriation of funds as a receiver when he was a lawyer in the 80's in the Culcutta High Court besides misrepresentation of facts.
