The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm on the issue of giving extension in service to an Additional Judge of Madras High Court.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha today, M Thambidurai of the AIADMK demanded a statement by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Responding to this, Mr Prasad said, this is a sensitive issue. In this connection, he said there is an imperative need to improve the selection system for the appointment of Judges.

He said the government is keen to constitute a National Judicial Commission for appointment of Judges. Not satisfied with the Minister’s response, AIADMK members trooped into the well of the House, forcing Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the House till 2 pm.

Earlier, the House witnessed a brief adjournment on the same issue.
