Lok Sabha is debating the FDI in retail on the second day today . The voting will take place in the evening. Participating in the debate yesterday the opposition urged the government to withdraw the proposal to allow 51 percent FDI in multi-brand retail alleging that it will create massive joblessness. The Government while defending its decision said that the move will help create employment and give boost to medium and small industries. The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till noon.
The Bahujan Samaj Party members, led by party supremo, Mayawati, trooped into the well demanding a memorial for B R Ambedkar in Mumbai. As soon as the House met for the day, Mayawati wanted the response of the government over her demand and insisted for the suspension of question hour. Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari rejected her request saying that she has not given notice in advance. He also said that government will make a statement in this regard after question hour. As the agitating members rushed to the well, Mr Ansari adjourned the House till noon.
