Congress and BJP have shared one seat each in the by-elections to two Lok Sabha constituencies. Congress candidate Abhijeet Mukherjee has won the Jangipur Parliamentary seat in West Bengal and BJP's Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah won Tehri Lok Sabha bypoll in Uttarakhand.
Abhijeet Mukherjee defeated his nearest CPIM rival by over 2500 votes. The Jangipur Parliamentary seat fell vacant after his father Pranab Mukherjee got elected as President of India.
In Uttrakhand, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah defeated Saket Bahuguna of Congress.
With today's results, the strength of Congress will be 206 in a House of 545 while that of BJP 115.
